Troubleshoot a failed connection

Check online status, paused sharing, approval, unattended access and diagnostics when Deskbat will not connect.

Start with the displayed reason

Copy the exact message rather than only “not working”. An offline PC, paused sharing, expired request and a failed screen connection need different checks. Note the time and time zone so support can match the attempt.

Check both ends

  1. Confirm internet access on both devices and that Deskbat is running on the host.
  2. Check the host is awake. A powered-off display is not necessarily sleep.
  3. Check whether sharing is paused in This computer. Resume it if the owner wants incoming connections.
  4. Confirm the account, workspace and permission. For an ID connection, ask the host to approve or use its authorized computer password.
  5. For an expired request, start again when the host is ready. Update both apps and try one fresh connection.

If the session fails after approval

Note whether the failure happened before the remote picture, after the picture, or after input began. Record whether Windows was locked or unlocked. Open Diagnostics where available and copy the attempt or error reference. These details distinguish availability problems from capture, network and input failures.

Contact support

Prepare a support email with the Deskbat ID, versions, time and diagnostic reference. Never include an account password, unattended password or Windows PIN.
